Well and truly putting the punk into rock, The Undertones formed in Derry, Northern Ireland in late 1975 and three years later brought out their debut single Teenage Kicks. The timeless classic was famously described by influential BBC Radio One deejay John Peel as his ‘favourite song of all time’ (he even played it twice in a row on air). After a series of memorable hits including Here Comes the Summer and Jimmy Jimmy, The Undertones disbanded in 1983. However, in 1999 they reformed with Paul McLoone replacing Feargal Sharkey on vocals and are playing a series of selective gigs before releasing an album next year.
