Julidans 2004

5-17 July
Various venues around the Leidseplein
Festival Center: Stadsschouwburg, Leidseplein 26
Dance in all its diversity is represented at this cutting-edge international dance festival which features both established performers and emerging talent. Highlights include Canada’s Marie Chouinard, the UK’s Russell Maliphant, Japan’s Saburo Teshogawara and Belgium’s Jan Fabre and Les Ballets C de la B (pictured).
Non-western dance forms are represented with South Africa’s Robyn Orlin, China’s Wen Hui, Senegal’s Germain Acogny and Nigeria’s IJodee Dance Company. Performances take place at venues in the vicinity of the Leidseplein and in the second week, in the Urban Dance programme, you can catch some pretty impressive rapping and breakdancing (some of which takes place at the Vondelpark Open Air Theater). New this year are screenings of dance films and videos, in collaboration with Cinedance.
