Manhattan

Often described as a visual love letter to New York, Woody Allen’s 1979 film, Manhattan, captures the essence of this district of the city, and is widely regarded as his best ever movie...
Set to a delightful Gershwin score, that includes Rhapsody in Blue, the film stars Allen as the 42-year-old divorced TV writer Isaac, whose wife Jill (Meryl Streep) has left him for another woman and is writing a book exposing details of the relationship with her former husband. Meantime he is having a relationship with 17-year-old Tracey, played by Mariel Hemingway. Shot in black and white, the often stunning cinematography is by Gordon Willis.
