The first exhibition ever in the Netherlands of one of the world's most celebrated photographers, Cornel Lucas (born London 1920). Lucas' big break came when he undertook an assignment to photograph Marlene Dietrich in 1948, launching him as a distinguished photographer of icons...

During his long association with Pinewood, Columbia, Rank and Universal, he captured some of the most critically acclaimed stars of our time including Brigitte Bardot, Katharine Hepburn, Joan Collins, Gregory Peck, David Niven, Dirk Bogarde, Stewart Grainger and Fellini. Additionally, this is also the first time that a selection of Lucas's until recently unknown colour images, will have been exhibited: they include rare and sensual pictures of Jean Simmons, Lauren Bacall, Diana Dors, Mylene Demangeot and Brigitte Bardot. The photographer's work is represented in many significant permanent collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum, The National Portrait Gallery, London, The Royal Photographic Society and The National Museum of photography, Bradford, England. In 1998 he was awarded a rare accolade for a stills photographer, an honorary BAFTA award for his contribution to the film industry.
